I have been working with Matt since my junior year of high school. He has always been a great resource for me and allowed me to understand the craft of pitching. Matt is able to see things in my delivery and then give me feedback that allows me to implement changes within my style of pitching. I trust Matt to always be honest and direct with me at all times and I fully trust and believe in him as a true friend and coach. Over the last five years he has helped me both on and off the field of play to understand all things relating to the craft of being a complete pitcher. I would not be where I am today without his help and guidance.

Matt Blake is one of the nation’s most elite pitching coaches today. As a father of two pitchers who have worked closely with Matt throughout the years, I have seen first-hand the benefits of his coaching. My sons have developed tremendously from Matt’s thorough understanding of biomechanics and functional strength training. While Matt has in depth mechanical knowledge, he also has a natural ability to teach the mental side of pitching, to all talent levels.
Matt’s pitching philosophy caters to the idea that every pitcher is unique, and does not try to incorporate a “cookie cutter” approach.
As part of his comprehensive instruction, Matt uses a great deal of video to maximize development and show areas of improvement. My sons now have the ability to review their mechanics on videos they take on their cell phones and are able to pin point what they are doing well and what they need to improve on. They use this feedback to “self-correct” in their next bullpen. I recommend Matt’s program to any pitcher who is serious about getting to the next level.

Matt Blake was an integral piece of our son’s pitching development during high school. As part of Adam’s training at Cressey Performance, as his Lincoln-Sudbury High School pitching coach, and as a New England Ruffnecks’ coach, Matt helped Adam refine his technical ability and his confidence on the mound. He also helped guide him (and us) through an intense Division 1 recruiting process, which concluded with Adam’s verbal commitment to his top choice, Vanderbilt University, in November of his junior year. At the end of Adam’s senior year, Matt similarly helped Adam prepare for the pressure and process of becoming an MLB prospect (40th round 2011 draft pick, New York Yankees). And, Matt has remained an ongoing support to Adam throughout his three years at Vanderbilt. He’s very professional, knowledgeable and personable, with an ability to connect easily with baseball players of all ages who are serious about reaching their pitching potential.

Matt Blake is a hard working, dedicated young coach committed to teaching the fundamentals of the delivery while understanding that each pitcher is unique in style and aptitude. He’s been around very talented prospects and knows not only how different pitchers look but also how to relate to them. You can’t go wrong working under Matt Blake – players trust him and get better working with him. If you have the desire to get after it, Matt will help you maximize your ability!

“Matt Blake is hands down the best pitching coach I have worked with in my career. His unique background (philosophy, liberal arts) gives him a strong handle on the mental side of pitching. In addition, his efforts to educate himself in the areas of physical therapy, strength and conditioning, and kinesiology, as well as understanding the benefits of manual therapy and nutrition makes him the total package. I have learned volumes from Matt through my collaboration with him at Cressey Performance and our Elite Baseball Mentorships.
Working as a physical therapist, I always had concerns when an athlete left my office and was cleared to begin a throwing program. However, with Matt, I have complete confidence that they will be managed appropriately to help them reach their goals. My partners and I consider Matt our “go-to” pitching coach to keep our patients healthy and help them to safely return to the field after injury. I have the utmost confidence in Matt’s ability and cannot endorse him highly enough.”

“To be honest with you, if someone had said three years ago that I was going to be a top-five round draft pick, I would have never in a million years believed them…But, then I met Matt Blake and he fixed pretty much everything that was out of sync, he increased my miles per hour and my pitching knowledge, and he just brought everything together. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Matt Blake, I can say that.”

“When faced with a potentially career ending elbow injury, the only option, in my mind, was to seek out the best. I had already spent a lot of time rehabbing, and I still had arguably the most crucial part of the rehab process left ahead of me, which was going to be making sure my mechanics did not promote another injury. Matt Blake’s incredible grasp on how the body works throughout one’s pitching delivery made him the one I could turn to repeatedly for advice and fine tuning for the duration of my throwing progression. By reducing some of the problematic variables in my delivery, I could confidently let the ball loose again with full trust I was heading in the right direction.”

We have had the pleasure to have Matt Blake coach and train our two youngest sons over the past 5+ years. They started with Matt as young high school players with potential and developed into recruited college players. Tim is having a great freshman season at Tufts and Kevin will play at Georgetown next season. Matt has been instrumental in their growth and success.
After each off-season’s throwing program with Matt (and training with Cressey Performance), it is amazing to see their velocity and control increase at the start of the new season. Matt understands the unique physical demands placed on a pitcher and his teaching philosophy relies on his expertise in pitching mechanics to achieve high-performing pitchers who remain healthy. Perhaps most importantly, Matt served as a mentor and role model for our boys. The college recruitment years can be very stressful and his insight and advice was invaluable during this process.
Matt’s commitment to Tim and Kevin extends beyond their workouts when he also attends their games to see them pitch. Moreover, we understand that he connects with Tim and Kevin throughout their seasons by phone, text and online to give them encouragement and praise. We know that Matt travels across the country to watch “his” players play for their respective college teams. He really creates a family atmosphere for the pitchers that he trains and they all pull for the success of each other.

Matt Blake is an outstanding pitching coach and a great person! Matt is adept at identifying exactly what needs to be corrected and developed in a pitcher’s delivery to immediately achieve success. Matt also clearly explains how to make the necessary adjustments for improvement.
At our very first meeting with Matt, he analyzed our son’s delivery and provided invaluable advice that instantly corrected his mechanics allowing him to pitch with greater control. Our son, Brendan, looks forward to the sessions with Matt, and we gladly drive over three hours to meet with him as often as we can. The knowledge and confidence gained makes the time spent with Matt very rewarding.
Thank you Matt for all your insight, great advice, and ability to enhance our son’s performance. Our son’s pitching would not be where it is today if it weren’t for you!
